  • If ya play wid puppy, puppy would lick ya mouth.

    • ​Don't be too friendly or associate with persons who are not in your class or age range; they will have no respect for you.

  • Taday fa me and tomorrow fa you.

    • ​Presently, I may be experiencing a misfortune, there is no escape. Very soon problems would come to you.

  • Don't wear out ya welcome.

    • ​If a person becomes offensive or rude in a setting, the host could ask you to leave. This could be a warning.

  • Money does not grow on trees.

    • ​This comment follows when a request is made for funds for an expensive item or for funds often.

  • Ya have sweet mout.

    • The individual enjoys good (particularly sweet) food.​

  • Spare the rod, spoil the child

    • ​If a parent fails or avoids disciplining his child, the child may end up a brute/spoiled.

  • “A Hungry dog will eat raw corn.”

    • This means that when someone is desperate they are not too particular.

  • “Bo-hog know where to rub his skin.”

    • This means that a troublesome person knows exactly whom he dares meddle with.

  • “The stillest cow sucks the most milk.”

    • This means that if you don’t draw attention to yourself, you’re likely to gain the advantage.

  • “Don’t mind the noise in the market; just mind the price of the fish.”

    • Don’t mind what is being said or done around you in a confused situation, just pay attention to essentials.

  • “Every canoe can carry guns.”

    • This means Don’t automatically assume that a situation is harmless because it looks innocuous.

  • “Fish’man never calls his own fish stink.”

    • This means that no one ever sees faults in anything connected with himself.

  • “Even teeth and tongue will fight.”

    • This means that you can expect disagreements in the closest of relationships.

  • “Pick until you pick needle without eye.”

    • This means that if you are too finicky or choosey, you can end up with the worst of the lot.

  • “When you rich don’t swonger (show off) and when you poor don’t cry.”

    • This means that a person should dehave with dignity whatever your circumstances.

  • “Eyewinker older than beard.”

    • This means that the rights of an older person takes precedence over those of a younger person.
